Tuesday's Treasuries: May Flowers!

April's Showers brought us May Flowers~

They're popping up everywhere, and with it the power of Love! We've celebrated our Love for Mother Earth, and now we celebrate our own Mothers, during one of the prettiest months of the year, coincidence? Yes. But the relation of gifting flowers to mothers on this holiday was not Anna Jarvis' intent (she petitioned for the first official Mother's Day celebration in America, held on May 10, 1908).
She created the day to honor her deceased mother and peace. Anna worked tirelessly to promote the holiday, and by 1909, 46 states were celebrating Mother's Day. Ironically it grew to a point that she began to fight against its commercialization. She was outraged by the profits of the floral industry on Mother's Day and tried to put a stop to it. Obviously, she failed, and sadly though she succeeded in honoring her own mother, she never knew the joys of motherhood herself...Today it remains the tradition to shower moms with flowers!
